I felt like a fish out of water when I went with a friend to play frisbee golf. I had never played, but I didn't think it would be that hard. My friend tried to teach me how to throw the frisbee, but I couldn't throw it very far. Then I threw the frisbee into a nearby tree, and my friend had to get it down. We only played a little longer until we gave up and went for a walk instead.

I felt like a fish out of water when I was learning to play chess for the first time. It was not in anyway like checkers, which I had gotten so used to. The characters actually had roles but when I caught on it was not so bad. The only difficulty was attempting to keep up with a pro just when I had soon grasped the game. I got wooped badly, but I got something out of it.
